縁起由来
天文二年（1533）九月二十七日稲荷之大神を神社に奉斎。
以来此の地の総社として鎮祭、新宿の発展と共に重要なる地位を与えられ由緒ある歴史をもつ神社として篤く信仰されております。
寛永年間、徳川幕府が「鉄炮組百人隊」を（現在の新宿区百人町）に駐屯させてより「鉄炮組百人隊」は旗本や上下の士に篤く信仰され、また町名も百人町と名づけられました（百人町の由来）。
当時、鉄炮組与力が射撃の研究に精魂を傾けておりましたが、なかなか思うに任せず、一夜煩悶のまま眠りに落ち入りましたところ、稲荷之大神が夢枕に立たれ霊符を示されました。
翌朝不可解なまま社頭にお参りを済ませ、大矢場にて射撃を試みたところ百発百中、全て的中、見事な進境に驚いたとのことであります。
これを目のあたりに見た旗本の士が競って霊符を受け射撃をしたところ、みな百発百中的中したと伝われます。
この話が、近郷近在に伝わり、唯射撃のみでなくさまざまな願いごとをする参詣者が日増しに多くなり、不思議な神託霊夢など幾多の霊験あらたかなものがあり、世人はこの神社を「皆中（みなあたる）の稲荷」と称えるようになり、それ以後「皆中稲荷神社」と云う名で呼ばれるようになりました。
【江戸幕府】鉄炮組百人隊〈新宿区登録無形民俗文化財〉
我国に鉄炮が伝来したのは、室町時代の天文十二年（一五四三）皆中稲荷神社が奉斎されてより十年後であります。
徳川家康が関が原の戦い（一六〇〇）で戦勝を収めたのは鉄炮の使用による所が多く、鉄炮組は天正十八年の家康が江戸入国の際、内藤修理亮及び青山常陸介に率いられ、鉄炮王薬同心（弾薬製造）と共に先陣を勤めています。
家康の江戸入国当時、鉄炮組並びに王薬同心は四谷あたりから東西大久保、諏訪、戸塚等に陣屋を構えて駐屯しましたが、寛永十年（一六三三）江戸城整備と共に城下の整理も進められて、軍制も統一されてきてこの鉄炮組も幕府の直轄として一定の禄高と地所屋敷が与えられ駐屯から定住にかわりました。
【鉄炮組と大久保つつじ】
大久保百人町のつつじは有史以来、この辺り一帯の山谷に自生していたものでしたが、鉄炮組が駐屯布陣した後定住に変わったので、屋敷内に余暇を利用して栽培されました。江戸中～末期には、つつじの名所として江戸名所図会・遊暦雑記等に広く江戸中に宣伝され、また末期には錦絵等によりその素晴らしさが伝えられ大変有名になりました。
また、明治天皇が観賞に訪れて、その賑わいを歌に詠まれた歌碑も皆中稲荷神社内に建立されています。
KAICHU INARI JINJA
"Jinja" is the Japanese name of the Shinto shrines.
Shinto is the indigenous faith of the Japanese.
In the Jinja, a myriad of "Kami", the Japanese deities, are enshrined.
For this reason, Shinto shrines are sacred places.
about Kaichu Inari Jinja
The literal translation of "kaichu" is "all get hit", in other words, it means "every wish comes true".
"Inari" is one of the name of the deity of agriculture.
He is also a protector of business.
In September 1533, Inari appeared in this place, and so got Enshrined in this Jinja.
During the Edo period (1624～), the Tokugawa Shogunate decided to set up a firearms (match lock) squad right here, in the then Musashi region.
Since the squad consisted of one hundred members, the area got called "Hyakunin-cho", meaning "a hundred men's town, which is still in use nowadays for this place.
Their captain was trying to build up his shooting skills, but he could never hit bull's eye.
Deeply worried, one night he had a dream in which Inari gave him a talisman.
The next morning, as soon as he got up he went to visit the Jinja to show respect to the deity.
After this, his shooting skills got perfect.
Seeng this, the squad members also decided to go visit the Jinja.
Amazingly, the same thing happened to all of them.
Day after day, the Jinja's reputation spread over the whole country, and a lot of people came to visit it with various requests, not only rerated to firearms.
Since so many of the people's wishes came true, the Jinja got called "MINA ATARU NO INARI", or "KAICHU INARI JINJA".
The meaning of "mina ataru" is the same as "kaichu".
Since then, this Jinja is famous for the divine grace and rewards.
